Signing a contract for the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the dry port and logistics area in the Tenth of Ramadan City, under a private sector partnership system, between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, represented by the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports, and the Swiss company Medlog.

Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, witnessed the signing of a contract for the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the dry port and logistics zone in 10th of Ramadan City. The contract is based on a private sector partnership between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, represented by the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports, and the Swiss company Medlog, the winner of the global tender offered by the Authority in competition with four international alliances. It is also the logistics arm of the world's largest shipping line (MSC). The contract was signed by Engineer Sayed Metwally, Chairman of the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports, and Mr. Domenico Zanon, CEO of Medlog. The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport stated that this signing comes within the framework of the Ministry of Transport's plan to implement the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to transform Egypt into a regional hub for transportation, logistics, and transit trade. This comes in light of the establishment of 32 dry ports and logistics zones nationwide, and the implementation of seven integrated logistics corridors to link production areas (industrial, agricultural, and mining) to seaports, or to link seaports on the Red Sea to seaports. On the Mediterranean Sea, serving new urban communities via a railway network (diesel/high-speed electric train) or a main road network, passing through dry ports and logistics areas located along these corridors. The dry port and logistics area in 10th of Ramadan City are considered key components of the integrated international logistics corridor (Sokhna/Alexandria). He added that this signing also comes within the framework of implementing presidential directives to maximize cooperation with the international and local private sector in all the ministry's projects. He noted that the project site is located on an area of ​​250 acres in 10th of Ramadan City, to establish the dry port and logistics center. It has been divided into two areas: the first, with an area of ​​130 acres, designated for the construction of the dry port, and the second, with an area of ​​120 acres, designated for the construction of the logistics zone. He indicated that this project will contribute to serving the industrial zone in the Tenth of Ramadan City and trade flow, reducing the congestion of goods and containers at seaports, improving the level of logistics services provided, reducing the high cost of freight transportation, facilitating the movement and connection of manufacturing and consumption sites, reducing negative environmental impacts, reducing the time and procedures required for customs inspection and clearance, achieving economies of scale in distribution to end users due to efficient railway connectivity, reducing accidents on national road and urban networks, and creating job opportunities. The Tenth of Ramadan City dry port also enjoys a prime location, making it a natural extension of Egypt's major container ports. It will serve consumption centers in Greater Cairo and the surrounding industrial areas, improving the efficiency of logistics supply chains in Egypt, especially since the project is connected to the seaports (Sokhna on the Red Sea and Port Said, Damietta, and Alexandria on the Mediterranean) via the road network and the railway network via the (Roubiki/10th of Ramadan/Belbeis) line.
